Żarnów is an urban-rural municipality in the Łódź Voivodeship, located in the Opoczno County, with its administrative seat in the town of Żarnów. The municipality covers an area of 141.06 km², predominantly consisting of agricultural land (70%) and forests (22%), making it a significant part of Opoczno County (13.56% of its total area). Historically, the municipality was known as Topolice until 1954, and between 1975 and 1998, it was part of the Piotrków Voivodeship. The area is home to two nature reserves: Jodły Sieleckie, which protects naturally regenerating fir forests, and partially the Diabla Góra reserve, associated with historical events of World War II, including partisan battles. The municipality is inhabited by residents with diverse demographic characteristics, and its villages and settlements, such as Afryka, Antoniów, and Budków, contribute to the rich tapestry of the local community.
