Adamów is a rural commune located in the Lublin Voivodeship, within Zamość County, with its administrative seat in the locality of the same name. Until 1954, it functioned as the commune of Suchowola. The commune covers an area of 110.55 km², which constitutes 5.9% of the county's total area. In 2004, it was inhabited by 5,145 people. Between 1975 and 1998, the commune was part of the Zamość Voivodeship. In Adamów and its surroundings, agricultural land predominates, covering 56% of the area, while forested areas account for 41%. Within the commune lies the Debry Nature Reserve, which protects old-growth beech-fir forest and unique, rare species of mountain plants. The commune includes numerous sołectwas (administrative villages), such as Adamów, Bliżów, Bondyrz, and others, as well as villages without sołectwo status, like Czarnowoda and Malinówka. It borders communes such as Krasnobród, Krynice, Łabunie, Zamość, and Zwierzyniec. With its rich natural environment and biodiversity, Adamów is an interesting destination both for nature enthusiasts and those looking to explore local culture.
