wikipedia
Olszyna, a village in the Silesian Voivodeship, boasts a rich history dating back to the 13th century. In modern times, its inhabitants were engaged in charcoal burning and iron ore mining. In 1888, the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built here, which was expanded in 2004. Being one of the smallest churches in the diocese, it gained a new wing and a taller tower, with its solemn consecration taking place in 2017. Another interesting site in Olszyna is the "Devil's Stone," a natural monument. This granite boulder, a remnant of glaciation, is surrounded by legends telling of the devil's attempts to destroy the church by moving the stone. Olszyna was one of the first villages to establish a Volunteer Fire Department (OSP) in 1910; today, OSP Olszyna actively engages in the local community by organizing festivals and sporting events. The village features historical landmarks such as a pond and preserved traditions that bring residents together. With its rich natural and cultural heritage, Olszyna is part of the Landscape Park "Lasy nad Górną Liswartą."
