The Herby Commune, located in the northern part of Lubliniec County in the Silesian Voivodeship, covers an area of 50.47 km² and is inhabited by approximately 6,800 residents. It constitutes 10.64% of the area of Lubliniec County. Its land structure includes 23% agricultural land and 63% forest land, reflecting the region's diverse natural environment. The commune has held its status since 1973, and between 1975 and 1998, it was part of the Częstochowa Voivodeship. Historically, the area was used for scrap storage until the 1990s, and today it is home to Scrapena, a facility for scrap processing and car recycling. The commune features a strategic railway junction with the Herby Nowe and Herby Stare stations, where important transport lines intersect. The main river is the Liswarta, and the commune is situated on the Woźnicko-Wieluńska Upland. Within its boundaries, there are also important institutions such as a Youth Educational Center and a Prison. The commune is divided into several village districts (sołectwa), including Lisów, Olszyna, Kalina, Hadra, Chwostek, Tanina, and Łebki. Until 1993, the village of Boronów was also part of the commune. The region borders the communes of Blachownia, Boronów, Ciasna, Kochanowice, Konopiska, Koszęcin, Przystajń, and Wręczyca Wielka. Demographics show that in 2007, the commune had a population of 5,069, while according to 2019 data, it had 6,797 residents. Herby Commune combines rich history and cultural aspects, making it an interesting place on the regional map.
