Andrespol is a village located in the Łódź Voivodeship, in the Łódź East County, serving as the seat of the municipality of the same name. The history of the settlement dates back to the 14th century when the area was known as Bedoń. The first mention of Bedoń comes from 1391. In the second half of the 18th century, settlers from Greater Poland and Germany began arriving in the area, leading to the establishment of a settlement called Andrespol in 1805. Key to the village's development were agreements with the colonists, which granted them initial settlement privileges. Over the years, Andrespol went through various administrative stages, gaining town status in 1915, though this status was not maintained after World War I. In 1945, the village was under German occupation, and after the war, it was reintegrated into the Brzeziny County. The name Andrespol, which eventually became widely used, likely derives from the name of one of the sons of the owner of the Bedoń estate – Andrzej.
Modern-day Andrespol is developing as a service and commercial center. It is home to the Stone Master construction complex and Galeria Andrespol, which opened in 2016. The village offers a wide range of services – from restaurants, bakeries, and grocery stores to construction and gardening shops. Andrespol is traversed by the provincial road No. 713 and is well-connected by the Łódź Agglomeration Railway and urban bus lines. Bedoń features a railway station, further enhancing the region's transport accessibility. The village also has rich cultural traditions, and its proximity to Łódź allows Andrespol to benefit from the influence of the larger city. Interestingly, in the past, there was a settlement process here that attracted German colonists to Polish territories, and its history is closely tied to local administrative and social transformations.
