wikipedia
Błonie is a town in the Masovian Voivodeship, situated on the Rokitnica River, located 30 km from Warsaw. Chartered in 1380 and known as a royal town, Błonie boasts a rich history dating back to pre-Christian times when a profitable metallurgical center existed here. The town features several historical monuments, including the early Gothic Holy Trinity Church from 1257, rebuilt in the Baroque style, a Classicist town hall from 1842, and the Poniatówka manor, which served as the summer residence of Prince Józef Poniatowski. Additionally, traces of an ancient settlement and a 19th-century Jewish cemetery have been preserved. Błonie also has significant remnants of Jewish culture, as a ghetto was established here during World War II. In 1945, the town was occupied by Soviet troops, who found extensive destruction left by German actions. Culturally, the town thrives around the Cultural Center and the Museum of the Błonie Land, and it also has a library and Bajka Park. Błonie has an active sports community with several sports clubs, including the football team Błonianka. The town also has a tradition in football, having been home to three football clubs in the interwar period. Transport to Błonie is provided by national and regional roads as well as a railway line, facilitating access to the capital. The town's distinctiveness is further emphasized by its industrial zone, which hosts well-known brands, and the industry related to the historical Mera-Błonie plants has evolved from match production to advanced manufacturing of components for the automotive industry. The town is also open to international cooperation, maintaining a partnership with Coreno Ausonio. Various religious communities operate in Błonie, including Roman Catholic and Protestant. Despite a decline in population in recent years, the town remains socially and culturally active.
