wikipedia
Bieżuń, an urban-rural municipality in the Masovian Voivodeship, within the Żuromin County, has a rich history dating back to the times of the Kingdom of Poland, when it belonged to the Sierpc County. In 1870, Bieżuń, which had been stripped of its town rights, was incorporated into the municipality. Currently, Bieżuń serves as the seat of the municipality, and in 2004, it was inhabited by 5,303 people, while by 2019, this number had decreased to 4,973 residents. The Bieżuń municipality covers an area of 122.02 km², of which 79% is agricultural land and 9% is forest land. This is an area that, due to its character, offers many picturesque landscapes and opportunities for agricultural development. Architecturally, the municipality boasts typical regional manor houses as well as rural buildings. Among the villages (sołectwa) that make up the municipality are places such as Adamowo, Gołuszyn, Sławęcin, and Wilewo-Pełki. It is worth noting the regional traditions and culture nurtured by the local community, blending modernity with history. The Bieżuń municipality is also a place for gatherings and cultural events that attract both residents and tourists, and its meadows and forests, which are home to diverse fauna and flora, are a unique treasure of the region. An interesting fact is that the municipality constitutes 15.16% of the area of Żuromin County, highlighting its importance in the regional context. Neighboring municipalities, such as Lutocin or Szreńsk, form a network of places that can be interesting destinations for those seeking contact with nature and local culture. Thus, Bieżuń is a place that combines history, culture, and nature, making it an interesting point on the map of Masovia.
