The Bliżyn Commune, located in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, within Skarżysko County, is a rural commune with its seat in the town of Bliżyn. It covers an area of 140.88 km² and, according to data from December 31, 2019, had a population of 8,037 residents. The commune is characterized by a diverse landscape, dominated by hills reaching up to 400 meters above sea level, and forests that cover nearly 70% of its area. The southern part of the commune lies within the Suchedniowsko-Oblęgorski Landscape Park, which offers beautiful areas for tourism. Within the commune, there are also nature reserves: Świnia Góra and Dalejów, which are popular destinations for hiking. The area features tourist trails, including the green trail from Bliżyn to Zagnańsk and the black trail to Suchedniów. Bliżyn Commune has a rich history, with changes in its county affiliation dating back to the pre-war period when, until 1939, it belonged to Końskie County. The commune engages in international cooperation with municipalities in Belarus, Slovenia, and Hungary. Joint cultural events, such as the historical reenactment "Cavalry Picnic" at Świnia Góra, commemorate important moments in the history of the Polish cavalry, especially the Battle of Rosochy. As an interesting fact, it is worth noting that until 2017, the commune operated the Municipal Football League, in which 11 local clubs participated, with each village in the commune having its own team. Bliżyn Commune is a place where tradition and nature blend with active leisure, offering residents and tourists numerous sports and cultural attractions.
