Bolesław Prus Museum in Nałęczów

The Bolesław Prus Museum in Nałęczów is a biographical and literary institution, operating as a branch of the National Museum in Lublin. Since December 2017, it has been located in the historic building of the former Adam Żeromski Shelter at 39 Stanisław August Poniatowski Street. The shelter was founded by Stefan Żeromski, which highlights the strong literary and historical connections of this place. Previously, the museum was housed in the representative halls of the Małachowski Palace, where Bolesław Prus stayed during his visits to Nałęczów between 1882 and 1910. The museum collects numerous memorabilia and documents illustrating Prus's life and work, with particular emphasis on his ties to Nałęczów and the Lublin region. The initiative to establish the museum was taken by Professor Feliks Araszkiewicz from the Catholic University of Lublin, an enthusiast of the region's literary history. After his death, the role of the museum's main scientific curator was taken over by Professor Stanisław Fita, a specialist in Prus's works. The museum not only enriches knowledge about literary Nałęczów but also promotes the legacy of Bolesław Prus and reminds us of his contribution to the popularization of the local Sanatorium, underscoring the cultural significance of this famous health resort. It is worth adding that during Prus's time, Nałęczów was an important literary center, making the museum a significant point on Poland's cultural map.
