Boronów

Boronów is a rural commune in Poland, located in Lubliniec County within the Silesian Voivodeship. It consists of the village of Boronów, which serves as the commune's administrative seat, and the sołectwas (village districts) of Zumpy, Dębowa Góra, Grojec, and Hucisko. The commune's history dates back to the 18th century when it was an independent municipality, and the village of Dębowa Góra held municipal rights during the interwar period. Boronów gained municipal rights in 1993, having previously been part of the Herby commune. The commune borders other municipalities within Lubliniec County and shares a boundary with Częstochowa County. Geographically, it lies within the Landscape Park of the Forests over the Upper Liswarta, home to the Rajchowa Góra Nature Reserve and numerous natural monuments, including oak, beech, and linden trees. The local waters are rich in birdlife, such as mute swans, and beavers, which build their lodges along the Leńca River. The European Union Educational Complex in Boronów provides education at various levels and promotes international cooperation through the Socrates-Comenius program. The commune is also active in sports, with clubs like Jedność Boronów and TKKF Boronovia, as well as local associations. In 2004, there were 143 economic entities operating in the commune, with a predominance of forest land (74%) and agricultural land (21%). The oil industry plays a significant role in the local economy, represented by the Naftobazy facility and a pipeline to Płock. Boronów also offers tourist attractions, including hiking trails, a Baroque church dating back to 1611, recreational areas, and historic chapels. The commune maintains partnerships with the Międzyzdroje Commune in Poland and Lomma Municipality in Sweden, highlighting its openness to international collaboration.
