wikipedia
Chłopice is a village in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, in Jarosław County, known since the 15th century, although the oldest traces of settlement date back to the Stone Age. The village boasts a rich history, reaching back to the Middle Ages, when an urn cemetery and archaeological finds were discovered in the area. Initially known as Chlopycze, the village was owned by various noble families, including the Chłopicki and Drohojowski families, and in the 18th century, it became the property of the Bibersztajn Boiszewski family. In the 18th century, a new Orthodox church was built, later converted into a Catholic church, which is named the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Consecrated in 1763, the temple has preserved many original decorative elements, including Byzantine polychrome that was restored in the 20th century. Next to the church, there is a chapel where the counts of Koziebrodzki are buried, as well as a field altar from the 1980s. Chłopice can also boast the preserved Lisowiecki manor, which once served as the seat of the local government and a primary school, and the ruins of a 17th-century farmstead. The village is home to the football club Wiraż Chłopice, and among its residents were notable figures such as Ewa Dzieduszycka, a traveler, and Fr. Prelate Tomasz Włazowski, a social activist. Chłopice is a place that combines a rich history with valuable architectural and cultural heritage, and local traditions and history continue to thrive within the community.
