wikipedia
The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Koszalin, formerly a parish church, is the city's most important historical monument and a significant landmark in the region's history. Built between 1300 and 1333 as a three-nave basilica with a tall tower, it served as a Protestant church from 1534 to 1945 and has been the cathedral of the diocese since 1972. The interior of the cathedral, rich in diverse furnishings, has been enhanced over the centuries, although some valuable details were lost due to war and fires. Architecturally, it stands out with its oriented chancel, massive pillars supporting the naves, and a 56-meter tower featuring a distinctive tented roof. The exceptionally rich interior houses precious artifacts such as a Gothic crucifix, an early Gothic baptismal font, and a unique main altar from 1512, which, after many changes, has returned to the cathedral in a new form. The cathedral also boasts an impressive organ built in 1899, as well as four new bells from 1980, the largest of which weighs 2067 kg. The cathedral's valuable history includes episodes related to war, which led to losses in its furnishings, yet many precious details have been preserved and restored, making it a unique cultural and religious site in the region.
