Koszalin

Koszalin, located in northwestern Poland in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, is a city with a rich history dating back to medieval times. In 1266, Bishop Herman von Gleichen granted it city rights, and thanks to its favorable location by Lake Jamno and proximity to the sea, Koszalin became an important trade center. The city boasts numerous historical landmarks, such as fragments of 14th-century defensive walls, the Gothic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the Executioner's House, which now serves as the home of the Dialog Proposal Theatre. Koszalin is also surrounded by beautiful nature, including the Koszalin Coastal Strip and green areas, which cover 40.78% of the city's territory. The city plays a significant cultural role, hosting several theaters, a philharmonic orchestra, and organizing various festivals, such as the "Młodzi i Film" Youth Film Festival and the Hanza Jazz Festival. Koszalin is home to a higher education institution – the Koszalin University of Technology – as well as other educational facilities, including art and music schools. It is also worth noting that Koszalin has the status of a city with county rights and is the seat of the Koszalin County authorities. As one of the major economic centers of Pomerania, Koszalin features a special economic zone, which fosters entrepreneurial development. The city is also distinguished by its sports activities, with numerous clubs and facilities such as the Water Park and sports halls.
