The Church of St. Barbara and the Monastery of the Bernardine Fathers in Przeworsk is one of the oldest Bernardine convents in Poland, with a rich history dating back to 1461, when Rafał Jakub Tarnowski founded a place for the Observant Friars Minor. Architecturally, the church stands out with its Gothic, three-nave form featuring Baroque elements, including intricate details such as a Neo-Gothic portal and a choir gallery. The interior is adorned with a Neo-Baroque main altar housing the image of Our Lady of Consolation, as well as beautiful 18th-century illusionist side altarpieces. Culturally, the convent played a significant role in the region, participating in the Ruthenian mission and supporting local clergy and numerous religious brotherhoods. A notable feature is the miraculous image of Our Lady of Consolation, renowned for numerous graces and miracles, which has become a pilgrimage destination. The monastery's history is intertwined with important events, such as its Baroque transformation in the 17th century and its role during the First Partition of Poland. After World War II, the monastery gained prominence, and in 2019, the Image of Our Lady of Consolation was crowned. Today, the complex is undergoing numerous renovations, restoring its former splendor. Celebrations in the church attract the faithful, and feast days, such as those in honor of St. Anthony or Our Lady of Consolation, are important events in the liturgical calendar.
