Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian in Czeremcha-Wieś

The Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian, also known under the dedication of the Holy Prophet Elijah, is an Orthodox cemetery church located in Czeremcha-Wieś. It belongs to the Parish of the Loving Mother of God in Czeremcha, within the Kleszczele deanery of the Warsaw-Bielsk Diocese of the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church. Built in 1797, the church features a wooden octagonal structure with a log-frame interior and a hall-like layout. At the front, there is a narthex, which was expanded in 1920 to include an octagonal bell tower. The church is topped with a sheet metal roof of varied forms: the narthex has a gable roof, while the tower features an octagonal tented roof crowned with an onion dome. The nave roof is single-ridge with a small turret topped by a cupola, highlighting its unique architectural style. After a renovation completed before 2013, the church was reconsecrated on August 11 of the same year. It is also worth noting that the church was entered into the register of historical monuments on July 25, 2001, under number A-22, underscoring its historical and cultural significance. This temple not only serves as a place of worship but also stands as an important element of the region's cultural heritage, attracting the attention of architecture and history enthusiasts. With its rich interior and unique architectural details, the church is an exemplary representation of traditional sacral architecture in Poland.
