wikipedia
The Church of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos in Płonna is a brick temple from 1790, now in ruins, with preserved walls reaching up to the roof level, and fragments of polychrome paintings visible in the presbytery area. After World War II, in 1947, the church was converted into a state farm (PGR) utility building, which involved lowering the walls and altering the roof, significantly changing its original appearance. Surrounding the church are the remains of one of its domes and an 18th-century screen-type bell tower, which was later covered with sheet metal on top. In 2017, the site was added to the list of historical monuments of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, highlighting its architectural and historical significance. The church in Płonna is an important part of the region's cultural heritage, serving as an example of church architecture from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. An interesting aspect is its transformation into a utility building, demonstrating how historical structures were repurposed during challenging times. Despite its current ruined state, the church continues to attract attention as a testament to the rich history and culture of the Orthodox community in the area.
