wikipedia
The Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Nowy Dwór Gdański, located in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, is a Roman Catholic parish church belonging to the Nowy Dwór Gdański deanery of the Elbląg diocese. Construction of the church began in 1840, when building permission was granted, and the land for the church was donated by Father Müller. The construction work, which started in 1847, encountered numerous difficulties, but eventually progressed, and the church was consecrated by Bishop Franciszek Grossman on November 22, 1851. Until 1908, it functioned as a subsidiary church of the Tiegenhagen parish, and in 1909, an independent parish under the patronage of the Transfiguration of the Lord was established. The church survived World War II, preserving its architectural and cultural heritage. The church is an example of the Neo-Gothic style, designed by the Gdańsk-based architect Klopsh. It is 28 meters long, 13 meters wide, and 10 meters high to the ceiling, with a quadrangular tower reaching 26 meters in height. The main altar features an 1872 painting of the Transfiguration of the Lord, along with statues of Saint Andrew and Saint Adalbert, highlighting its cultural significance in the region. Interestingly, the church’s consecration document is currently kept in the sacristy, underscoring its historical value to the local community. The Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord plays a vital role not only as a place of worship but also as an element of the cultural and historical heritage of Nowy Dwór Gdański.
