Dąbrowa Tarnowska is an urban-rural municipality located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, within Dąbrowa County, with the town of Dąbrowa Tarnowska serving as its administrative seat. The municipality covers an area of 113.43 km², of which approximately 74% is agricultural land and 16% is forested. Dąbrowa Tarnowska is known for its rich history, having been part of the Tarnów Voivodeship between 1975 and 1998. The municipality includes several village districts, such as Brnik, Gruszów Mały, and Lipiny, while the locality of Podkaczówka does not hold the status of a village district. A variety of religious communities are present in the municipality, including six Roman Catholic parishes and a congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, reflecting the diverse religious culture of its inhabitants. Dąbrowa Tarnowska is a member of the Union of Polish Towns (Unia Miasteczek Polskich), which enhances its regional significance. Demographically, the municipality was home to 20,199 people in December 2007, and by December 2017, the population had grown to 21,231, illustrating both development and natural population growth in the region. The municipality borders several others, including Lisia Góra and Żabno, fostering regional cooperation.
