District IV Prądnik Biały

District IV Prądnik Biały is one of the largest and most populous districts of Krakow, covering an area of 2341.87 hectares with an estimated population of 69,135. Its history dates back to the 12th century, with the oldest record concerning Prądnik originating from 1123. The village of Prądnik Biały, from which the district takes its name, was already known in the Middle Ages when Bishop Iwo Odrowąż established the first hospital in Krakow on its territory. In terms of architecture, the district boasts historic buildings such as the Białoprądnicki Manor, the Fischer Palace, as well as various villas and forts from World War II. The cultural center of the district is the "Dworek Białoprądnicki" Cultural Center, along with the Higher Seminary of the Franciscans and various research institutions, including the Institute of Nuclear Physics. Prądnik Biały is characterized by well-developed public transportation, including one tram loop and numerous bus lines. The district offers residents recreational areas, including parks such as Krowoderski Park and the Witkowice Forest Park, which provide opportunities for active leisure. It is also worth mentioning the numerous religious buildings, including many Catholic churches and Kingdom Halls of Jehovah's Witnesses. The district continues to develop, and its history along with its rich cultural and recreational offerings make it an interesting place both to live in and to visit.
