District XII Bieżanów-Prokocim

District XII Bieżanów-Prokocim in Kraków is an auxiliary unit of the urban municipality, known for its rich history and diverse architectural structure. Before 1990, this district was part of Podgórze, and its boundaries and division into neighborhoods, such as Bieżanów, Kaim, or Osiedle Nowy Bieżanów, reflect its dynamic urban development. The area features both newer residential buildings and elements of older architecture that have retained the character of local culture. For example, Prokocim, one of the central areas of the district, has a long settlement tradition, which can be observed in its road layout and preserved buildings. Zbigniew Kożuch, as Chairman of the District Council and Board for the 2023–2028 term, leads initiatives for the development of the local community, reflecting residents' engagement in the district's life. In a cultural context, Bieżanów-Prokocim is a place that brings people and traditions together by organizing diverse events that enrich local identity. The district's boundaries are precisely defined, ensuring administrative order and enabling better management of urban space. Interestingly, the district boasts numerous green areas that promote recreation for residents, as well as significant transport-related elements, such as the Kraków–Prokocim freight station, which historically played a key role in the region's railway communication. It is also worth mentioning the adaptation of infrastructure and services in response to the growing needs of the community, making this district an interesting place to live and work within Kraków.
