wikipedia
Dubiecko is a town in Poland, located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, within the Przemyśl County, on the San River. As the seat of the Dubiecko municipality, the town boasts a rich history dating back to 1407, when it was granted town rights through the efforts of Piotr Kmita. Historically, Dubiecko was part of the Sanok Land, and its town status was changed several times, most recently being restored on January 1, 2021. A significant figure in the town's history is Stanisław Mateusz Stadnicki, who in the 16th century converted the Catholic church into a Calvinist church, contributing to the spread of the Reformation in the region. Dubiecko is home to a castle-palace complex, featuring an 18th-century classical palace built by the Krasicki family, ruins of the Stadnicki Castle, and earth fortifications. The palace, now converted into a hotel and restaurant, is surrounded by a park with unique tree species. The town also features a Greek Catholic Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, which serves as the Borderland House of Art, and a 19th-century communal cemetery. Dubiecko has inspired many artists, including Ignacy Krasicki, Aleksander Fredro, and Franciszek Karpiński, whose Christmas carol "Bóg się rodzi" (God Is Born) was written here. Interestingly, Dubiecko is twinned with the French town of Azay-le-Rideau, highlighting its role in international cultural cooperation. The town is rich in cultural heritage, and its history is showcased in the private Museum of Fossils and Minerals, which houses exhibits from the region.
