Człopa is an urban-rural municipality located in the southern part of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, within Wałcz County, with its seat in the town of Człopa, which was granted town rights in 1245. The municipality, covering 24.6% of the county's area, features a diverse landscape of the Wałcz Lake District and the Drawska Plain, and its western border adjoins the Drawa National Park. The rivers Płociczna and Cieszynka, popular kayaking routes, flow through the municipality. Forested areas account for as much as 68% of the municipality's area, contributing to its natural value and tourist appeal, with hiking trails running through the national park and surrounding lakes. The municipality has a population of 5,032, which constitutes 9.3% of the county's population, and the population density is 14.4 people per km². National road No. 22 runs through Człopa, and the history of rail transport in the area dates back to 1899 when the line from Krzyż was established. Człopa falls under the jurisdiction of the District Court in Wałcz and appoints representatives to the County Council and the Regional Assembly. The municipality is divided into 12 administrative units known as sołectwas. An interesting fact is that the municipality is historically significant as the area around Lake Załom, which includes the Stary Załom nature reserve. The municipality abounds in natural, historical, and architectural attractions, making it an interesting place for both tourists and residents.
