Ostrowiec

Lake Ostrowite, located on the Drawska Plain in Drawieński National Park, is the largest body of water in this area. It borders the Lubuskie and Zachodniopomorskie voivodeships, and its shores are varied, with numerous peninsulas and islands. The lake has a rich history, first mentioned in 1532, and went through various names until it received its current name in 1955. Due to its ecological significance, the lake is protected, and its waters are considered special—fishery management is conducted by Drawieński National Park, and fishing is subject to restrictions. Water purity has changed over the years, and data from 2021 indicate a moderate ecological status of the lake. The lake is home to rich fauna, including fish and diverse phytoplankton, making it an interesting place for research. It is also part of the Natura 2000 protected area, highlighting its natural value.
