The Poznań Ethnographic Museum, a branch of the National Museum, is housed in the historic building of a former Masonic lodge at 25 Grobla Street. Built in the early 19th century, the building was entered into the register of monuments in 1953. The museum was opened on June 7, 1987, and inaugurated by Undersecretary of State Krystyna Marszałek-Młyńczyk. The museum's collections are treasures of Greater Poland's folk culture, including sculpture, painting, costumes, and various decorations such as ceramics and woodwork, as well as musical instruments and ceremonial props from the 19th and 20th centuries. Interestingly, before being transformed into a museum, the same building housed the headquarters of the House of Food Industry Workers (Dom Spożywców), which began operations on August 15, 1945. The renovation of the building at that time cost 80,000 złoty, raised by the Food Industry Workers' Trade Union. The museum not only serves as a venue for artistic exhibitions but also acts as an important center for the protection and promotion of local cultural heritage.
