The Old Town Housing Estate in Poznań, established on January 1, 2011, covers the central area of the city with a surface area of 3.91 km² and is inhabited by 30,216 people (2010 data). The estate's boundaries are marked by railway lines and K. Pułaski Street to the west, Army Poznań Street to the north, and the Warta River to the east. The southern boundaries are formed by Queen Jadwiga Street, Towarowa Street, and the Dworcowy Bridge. In the Municipal Information System, the estate is divided into three area units: Centrum, Chwaliszewo, and Stare Miasto, which correspond to the traditional division into various districts, such as Chwaliszewo, the Imperial District, Garbary, Grobla, Piaski, Piekary, Przepadek, Rybaki, Old Town, Święty Marcin, and Święty Wojciech. The seat of the Estate Council is located in the Dormitory of the Sports Championship School Complex No. 2 at 11 Młyńska Street. The history of the estate dates back to the period 1954–1990, when it belonged to a larger district of the same name. In subsequent years, smaller units were created, such as the Śródmieście Estate, Św. Marcin Estate, Starówka Estate, and Rybaki-Piaski Estate, which were merged in 2011 into one larger Old Town Estate as part of a functional reform. This allowed for greater administrative cohesion for the downtown area, which is characterized by multi-family housing. The Old Town Estate is well connected to the rest of Poznań by MPK buses, which operate six daytime and two nighttime lines. It is worth emphasizing that its location in the heart of Poznań makes it not only an administrative point but also a cultural and architectural one, enriching the local landscape, including numerous monuments and tourist attractions, making it an interesting place for residents and visitors.
