wikipedia
Frampol is an urban-rural municipality located in the Lublin Voivodeship, within Biłgoraj County, with its administrative seat in the town of the same name. The municipality was established on January 1, 1870, following Frampol's loss of town rights, which then became the foundation for a new rural municipality that also incorporated nearby villages from the former Abramów commune. Throughout its history, the municipality underwent multiple administrative changes, yet it retained its structure after World War II. In 1993, Frampol regained its town rights, leading to its transformation into an urban-rural municipality. Covering an area of 107.61 km², approximately 63% of the municipality consists of agricultural land, while forests account for 32%. Demographic data from 2006 recorded a population of 6,497 residents. The region is particularly notable for its distinctive architecture, which reflects both folk influences and regional elements. Frampol is also known for its numerous cultural events that showcase the area's rich history and local traditions. An interesting historical note is that in 1930, the municipality incorporated the territory of the abolished Goraj commune, though this regulation was repealed in 1939. Despite its turbulent history, the residents have preserved local customs and language, contributing to the cultural diversity of the region. The Frampol municipality borders the communes of Biłgoraj, Dzwola, Goraj, and Radecznica, which influences its socio-economic development and regional cooperation.
