wikipedia
Frampol is a small town located in the Lublin Voivodeship, in Biłgoraj County, with a history dating back to the 17th century. The town was founded on the lands of Radzięcin, Stara Wieś, and Sokołówka, and its establishment is dated to 1717, when Count Marek Antoni Butler initiated its foundation. Frampol gained particular attention due to its distinctive urban layout, where the now-vanishing market square—once one of the largest in Poland—was designed in the shape of a square with streets radiating outward. The town was a center for crafts, especially known for textile production, as well as horsehair weaving and sieve making. Unfortunately, its importance declined in the 19th century, and in 1870, Frampol lost its town rights. Despite this, the settlement continued to develop, particularly in the field of weaving. After World War II, due to destruction and repression, Frampol underwent a prolonged reconstruction and regained its town status in the morning of 1993. Among Frampol's historic landmarks are its urban layout, the Jewish cemetery, a 19th-century rectory, and a neo-Gothic parish church. The town serves as a local service and commercial center, and its demographics indicate a small population, making it one of the smallest towns in Poland. Frampol also boasts a rich cultural life, including the activities of local associations and the amateur sports club "Włókniarz." An interesting fact is that during World War II, the town was bombed without any apparent reason, resulting in the destruction of 90% of its buildings. Despite these difficult experiences, Frampol still retains its unique identity and history.
