Górzno is an urban-rural municipality located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, within the Brodnica County. Its administrative seat is the town of Górzno, and the municipality underwent administrative changes, belonging to the Toruń Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998. In 2017, Górzno had a population of 3,955, which decreased to 3,913 by 2019. The municipality covers an area of 119.38 km², of which 44% is agricultural land and 49% is forested. Górzno is rich in natural resources, accounting for 11.49% of the county's area. It is home to four nature reserves: Czarny Bryńsk, Jar Brynicy, Ostrowy nad Brynicą, and Szumny Zdrój, which protect diverse ecosystems, including peat bogs and mixed forests. From an architectural perspective, notable landmarks include the parish church of the Holy Cross, built between 1765 and 1773, and the mill complex in Czarny Bryńsk-Traczyska. The municipality of Górzno is also rich in folklore and traditions, with numerous village districts such as Czarny Bryńsk, Fiałki, and Zaborowo. An interesting aspect is the diversity of settlements, including non-village administrative units, which reveal the region's rich cultural heritage. Górzno borders the municipalities of Bartniczka, Lidzbark, Lubowidz, and Świedziebnia, making it an important point on the map of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.
