wikipedia
Gościejewice is a village located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, within the Bojanowo commune, with a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages, first recorded in 1310. The settlement was originally a noble estate and had local owners, such as the Gościejewski and Pampowski families. Silver treasures from the 9th century have been discovered in the area, and during the Middle Ages, the village was connected to important trade routes. Over time, the surrounding estates changed hands, and in 1843, Gościejewice was acquired by the Hatzfeld princes. In the 19th century, a manor farm complex was preserved, and the local economy was significantly supported by a distillery and sheep farming. During the partitions of Poland, the village fell under Prussian rule, and after World War II, it underwent land parceling. Today, the village has approximately 473 residents and features an elementary school, a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, and an active volunteer fire department. Gościejewice is known for its local folklore and agricultural activities, with most residents earning their living from farming and work in nearby factories. An interesting fact is that the village boasts well-developed infrastructure, including electricity and water supply systems, as well as collaboratively operating firefighting teams and cultural traditions, such as naming the local school after Jan Brzechwa.
