Gmina Goleniów, located in the western part of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, stands out for both its rich architectural heritage and significant history. The seat of the municipality is the town of Goleniów, which took 2nd place in the 2007 local government rankings. The municipality is the largest in Goleniów County both in terms of area and population, covering 27.4% of the county's territory. Goleniów encompasses areas of three geographical regions: the Lower Odra Valley, the Goleniów Plain, and the Nowogard Plain. Within the municipality, there are many interesting sites, such as St. Catherine's Church with Gothic elements, town walls, towers, as well as the Uroczysko Święta floral reserve. Historical finds, such as the ruins of St. George's Chapel and half-timbered churches in nearby towns, attest to the region's rich history. Gmina Goleniów also boasts a robust industry, with numerous facilities, including the Goleniów Industrial Park, where various goods are produced, such as computer equipment and wallpaper. Part of the municipality is covered by the Kostrzyn-Słubice Special Economic Zone subzone, which fosters economic development. The municipality also offers attractive areas for tourism, with trails running through the Goleniów Forest and the Ina River, available for kayaking enthusiasts. In terms of transportation, the municipality is well-connected thanks to expressways and railways, as well as the Szczecin-Goleniów Airport. Local traditions are maintained through various cultural events, and the municipality cooperates with many partner local governments, reflecting its activity on the international stage. An interesting fact is that the municipality has 33 village administrative districts (sołectwa) and, until December 31, 1998, was part of the Szczecin Voivodeship, which also influences its social and cultural development.
