Gryfice

Gryfice is a town in northwestern Poland, located in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, serving as the seat of Gryfice County. Situated on the Rega River, 22 km from the Baltic Sea, it boasts a rich history dating back to the Neolithic era. In the 13th century, Gryfice was granted town rights, and its development was closely tied to the Griffin dynasty. The town preserves fragments of medieval defensive walls and two historic city gates. The most important religious site is the Gothic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, along with the Chapel of St. George. Gryfice is also home to the Gunpowder Tower, a remnant of former fortifications, which is open to tourists. A unique element of local culture is the Gryfice Hejnał, played daily from the Stone Gate. The town serves as a cultural hub with the Gryfice Cultural Center and the "Brama" Museum and Gallery, featuring regional exhibitions.
