Nagórzany is a village in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, within the Sanok County, situated in the Bukowskie Foothills. The historical and cultural value of the locality is significant, with numerous toponymic records dating back to the 15th century. The name of the village is linked to Posada Górna Nowotaniec, and the settlement has a rich history extending to medieval times, when a locational privilege was issued in 1366. In the 18th century, the village had about 471 inhabitants. Over the centuries, Nagórzany has been the site of various events, including battles during the January Uprising and World War II, when it witnessed occupation by Soviet troops and raids by the UPA in 1946. The architecture of Nagórzany includes a historic Greek Catholic church from 1848, whose current condition is the result of numerous transformations and neglect after 1947. The village was home to many service and trade businesses, and local cultural traditions are continued by organizations such as the Rural Housewives' Circle. Notable figures from Nagórzany include the Blessed Anastazy Pankiewicz and Lieutenant Tomasz Silarski, who was murdered in Katyn.
