Horyniec-Zdrój

Horyniec-Zdrój, known as Horyniec until the end of 2001, is a rural municipality located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, within the Lubaczów County. The town of Horyniec-Zdrój, which serves as the municipal seat, gained spa status in 1999, highlighting its health benefits and architecturally significant spa infrastructure. The municipality is characterized by picturesque landscapes, with forests covering 57% of its area and agricultural land making up 37%. It is worth noting the building structures in villages such as Krzywe or Puchacze, which still retain their traditional character. The history of Horyniec dates back to at least the 17th century, when these lands were inhabited by various ethnic groups, influencing the local culture and customs. The municipality includes numerous village districts, such as Radruż and Werchrata, as well as settlements without village district status, like Monasterz. Horyniec-Zdrój borders Ukraine, which adds to its unique character and also influences cultural life, where Ukrainian influences are visible. Local events, festivals, and crafts reflect the rich traditions of the residents, who cherish their roots. The latest data indicate that the municipality of Horyniec-Zdrój had 4,931 inhabitants in 2013, and in 2004, a specific age pyramid could be observed, indicating demographic diversity. Interestingly, the municipality occupies 15.5% of the area of Lubaczów County, and the region is also known for its natural resources and tourist attractions, making it a popular destination for both residents and tourists.
