Jedwabne is an urban-rural municipality located in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, in the Łomża County, with its seat in a town of the same name. The municipality covers an area of 159.42 km², of which 77% is agricultural land and 17% is forested. In 2004, it was inhabited by 5,634 people. Historically, in 1921, the municipality had 6,858 residents, predominantly Roman Catholics and Jews, reflecting the cultural diversity of the area. Over the years, the municipality underwent various administrative changes, and from 1975 to 1998, it was part of the Łomża Voivodeship. Jedwabne and its surroundings are rich in traditions and history, as evidenced by numerous village administrations such as Bartki, Borawskie, or Chyliny, as well as architectural diversity, encompassing both historic residential buildings and modern investments. It is worth noting that the region has a rich cultural heritage, with numerous local events that highlight the identity of its inhabitants. An interesting fact is that in 1921, there were as many as 1,034 residential buildings in the municipality, demonstrating the development of settlement. Neighboring municipalities, such as Piątnica, Przytuły, or Trzcianne, contribute to cultural exchange and cooperation between communities.
