Jordan Park in Krakow

Jordan Park in Kraków is a 21.5-hectare green space located between 3 Maja Avenue, Reymana Street, and Reymonta Street. The park offers numerous amenities, including sports fields for various disciplines, a skate park, playgrounds, a water playground, and food outlets. It is surrounded by beautiful tree-lined pathways and lush greenery, with a central square featuring a bust of Dr. Henryk Jordan, the park's namesake. Admission to the park is free, and its opening hours vary depending on the season. The park's history dates back to 1889, when Dr. Henryk Jordan, the initiator of the project, commissioned its development following an earlier agricultural and industrial exhibition. Initially, the park featured tennis courts and a gymnastics pavilion. In the 1890s, numerous busts of famous Poles, including poets and scholars, were installed—a collection that remains a highlight of the park to this day. After World War I, the park was further enriched with additional monuments, many of which were saved from destruction during World War II. Today, the park houses 54 busts, including modern recreations of historical figures from the 20th century. An interesting fact is that in 2014, a statue of Wojtek the Bear—a symbol of the Polish 2nd Corps—was unveiled, attracting additional tourist interest. Jordan Park serves not only as a recreational space but also as a cultural hub, hosting numerous events, concerts, and exhibitions that promote Polish history and art. It is a place where history meets modernity, allowing every visitor to appreciate both the natural beauty and the rich heritage of this unique urban oasis.
