District V Krowodrza

District V Krowodrza, previously known as District V Łobzów, is one of the auxiliary units of the municipality of Kraków. Its name derives from the village of Krowodrza, which was incorporated into the city in 1910. The district has undergone various administrative transformations; it was once part of the Kleparz district and later of the larger Krowodrza area. The chairman of the Council of District V Krowodrza for the 2023–2028 term is Maciej Żmuda. The council consists of 21 members elected in general elections, and its headquarters are located at 6 Inwalidów Square. Krowodrza includes neighborhoods such as Cichy Kącik, Łobzów, and the AGH Student Campus. The district's boundaries are marked by important streets and water bodies, such as the Rudawa River. Krowodrza is an area rich in educational institutions, including prestigious universities like the AGH University of Science and Technology and the Jagiellonian University. Culturally, the district boasts a variety of centers, ranging from cinemas and cultural clubs to numerous museums, including the National Museum and the Museum of the History of Photography. Parks such as Jordan Park and Wincentego á Paulo Park provide spaces for relaxation and recreation, while the Henryk Reyman Municipal Stadium is a hub of sports excitement, especially for fans of the Wisła Kraków club. The district also has a rich architectural heritage, with landmarks such as the Royal Palace in Łobzów, the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, and the Modrzejówka Villa. Krowodrza is home to many healthcare institutions, such as Falck Medical Center and the 5th Military Clinical Hospital. Interestingly, the district is a significant center of student life due to its proximity to numerous universities.
