Karol Adamiecki School Complex No. 1 in Sanok

School Complex No. 1 named after Karol Adamiecki in Sanok, previously known as the School of Economics, is housed in a building with an interesting architectural history. Originally, it served as military barracks. Constructed in 1891, it was intended for the 57th Battalion of the Imperial and Royal Army's Home Guard. During the Second Polish Republic, it functioned as a garrison for the 1st Battalion of the 2nd Podhale Rifles Regiment. Over time, the building underwent various adaptations and was used by different schools until 1975, when it was transformed into the School of Economics. Since 2002, it has borne the name of the renowned Polish economist Karol Adamiecki. It is worth noting that in the past, the school grounds housed a Greek Catholic church with a cemetery, and during renovation works, remnants of burials were discovered, underscoring the rich history of this location. The school boasts a unique educational tradition dating back to the 1920s when the first commercial school was established. After the war, the institution underwent numerous transformations and grew in popularity year by year, consistently providing solid vocational training. Graduates of the school have achieved success not only in the job market but also in various fields such as sports and the arts. Interestingly, among its alumni is the famous artist Zdzisław Beksiński, which adds cultural value to the school. On the 160th anniversary of its existence, the school building was entered into the municipal register of historical monuments, highlighting its importance to the local community. The school actively collaborates with other educational institutions and participates in international projects, demonstrating its modern approach to education. In addition to core fields such as economics and hospitality, it also offers training in culinary professions, meeting the demands of the job market.
