wikipedia
Krasiczyn Castle is an impressive monument of Renaissance-Mannerist architecture, built at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries on the orders of Stanisław Sieciński, the castellan of Przemyśl. It is characterized by a geometric quadrilateral layout with four distinctive towers: the Divine, Papal, Royal, and Noble Towers, which serve both representative and defensive functions. Between 1598 and 1633, the castle was expanded by Marcin Krasicki, the son of Stanisław, who transformed it into a Mannerist residential and defensive residence. The castle's architecture features sgraffito decorations, cloisters, and richly furnished interiors, including a chapel in the Divine Tower. The history of the castle is turbulent; over the centuries, it passed through the hands of various families, and its fate was shaped by both wars and fires. The castle witnessed numerous events, including invasions by Russian troops in the 18th century and occupation during World War II. After the war, the castle served various functions, including as a Forestry Technical School, and today it operates as a hostel and a venue for thematic children's camps. In 2018, the castle was designated a Historic Monument. The castle is also known for the tradition of planting trees in the palace park upon the birth of children, introduced by the Sapieha family, who owned the estate until 1939. An interesting fact is that in the 1940s, an anti-Polish film was shot at the castle by Soviet filmmakers. Krasiczyn Castle is not only an architectural treasure but also an important part of Poland's cultural heritage.
