The rural commune of Przemyśl, located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship within the Przemyśl County, has a rich history dating back to World War II. It was established in 1942 from parts of four pre-war communes, in areas that belonged to the Przemyśl County of the Lwów Voivodeship. Despite the administrative changes introduced by the occupiers, the commune survived various stages of transformation until its reactivation in 1973, when several villages were incorporated into it. Currently, the Przemyśl Commune consists of 15 villages, many of which have historical roots in pre-war communes. The commune covers an area of 108.39 km², with agricultural land accounting for 58% of the area, while forests make up 34%. It is an important rural area, playing a role in the life of the local community, which, according to 2004 data, had 9,140 inhabitants.
The region is also characterized by a rich culture, with traditions dating back to the past. The commune's natural surroundings, proximity to the border with Ukraine, and the diversity of its villages create an interesting blend of tradition and modernity. The commune borders towns such as Fredropol, Krasiczyn, Krzywcza, and Żurawica, making it a significant point in the region, offering access to local architectural attractions, including monuments and traditional wooden architecture. Interestingly, the Przemyśl Commune, despite its administrative boundaries, does not include the city of Przemyśl itself, which functions as a separate entity with county rights. Thus, the commune reflects a rich mix of history, culture, and local traditions that are alive among its inhabitants.
