wikipedia
Łajski is a village in the Masovian Voivodeship, located in the Legionowo County, within the administrative district of Wieliszew, with a population of approximately 1,300 residents. Nestled in the picturesque Warsaw Basin, it is surrounded by the Pomiechów Forests and remnants of the Nieporęt Wilderness, characterized by gently rolling terrain. The village boasts important transport links, including proximity to the Zegrze Reservoir and routes connecting Warsaw with Gdańsk. The history of Łajski dates back to medieval times; the area was part of the lands of Warsaw, Zakroczym, and Sochaczew. During the partitions of Poland, these territories fell under Prussian rule, and after World War II, they were incorporated into newly established counties. Over the centuries, Łajski had various owners, including Count August Potocki, a prominent figure in Warsaw and the founder of a glassworks. World War II brought significant destruction, and the village required extensive rebuilding in the postwar period. Łajski is home to numerous historical monuments, including small chapels and shrines, as well as remnants of earlier settlements, such as archaeological finds from the Hallstatt culture period. Today, Łajski is a place of development: it is home to the "PODKOWA" Mechanical Works, as well as public institutions like a Social Care Home and a Cultural Center. The Stanisław Moniuszko School Complex offers innovative education, including the cultivation of artistic traditions and integration classes for children with various disabilities. Since 2006, the association "Aktywni dla Łajsk" (Active for Łajski) has been organizing diverse cultural events, such as the "Spotkania ze sztuką" (Meetings with Art) series. Łajski also takes pride in its brass band class, highlighting the cultural significance of the village.
