wikipedia
Leżachów is a village located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, in Przeworsk County, with a rich history dating back to the 15th century. The first mentions of the settlement appeared in a document establishing the Jarosław Ordination in 1470. The village was part of the estates of the Lubomirski family and later the Czartoryski family. In the 16th and 17th centuries, Leżachów was known as Lezechow, and in 1674 it had 30 houses. In the 19th century, after various administrative changes, the village gained importance, and in 1885 a wooden bridge over the San River was built. Significant changes also occurred in the 20th century; during World War II, the village witnessed tragic events, including the displacement and murder of its residents. From an architectural perspective, the village is distinguished by its wooden church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which was originally a Greek Catholic church, and the newly built brick filial church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. In 2015, renovations began on the church, which holds great significance for the local community. The culture of Leżachów was shaped by residents of various nationalities, including Poles, Ukrainians, and Jews, which is reflected in the diverse history and traditions of the village. The population was 523 people (2006 data), and in 2009, a kayaking trip involving Karol Wojtyła took place here. It is worth noting that Leżachów-Osada, once a hamlet, transformed into an independent village. A primary school also operated here from 1868 to 2008, highlighting the importance of education in the local community.
