The Lipiany Commune, located in the western part of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, within the Pyrzyce County, is a place of great diversity both in terms of nature and architecture. The seat of the commune is the town of Lipiany, which boasts a rich history dating back to the 14th century. Notable architectural features include the 18th-century Neoclassical town hall and the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, originally built in the 12th century and expanded in the 19th century. Other significant landmarks are the Pyrzycka and Myśliborska gates, fragments of defensive walls, and the "Peace" Oak—a natural monument situated in Freedom Square. The commune also takes pride in its palace and park complexes in Batów, Krasno, Skrzynka, and Wołczyn, as well as manorial parks in Mielęcinek and Połczyn.
The natural surroundings of Lipiany, situated on the Myślibórz Lake District, abound with beautiful lakes such as Chłop, Wądół, and Będzin, along with a water and flora reserve on Lake Jasne. Agricultural land dominates the commune (67% of the area), followed by forests (14%). Demographically, the commune has seen a slight decline in population in recent years, from 5,970 inhabitants in 2016 to 5,934 in 2017. It ranks 65th in the voivodeship in terms of population. It is also worth noting that Lipiany was administratively part of the Szczecin Voivodeship until 1998.
In terms of transportation, the commune enjoys good road connections, including access to National Road No. 3 and regional routes, as well as a railway history that began in 1882. Culturally, the commune is active, striving to promote its heritage through various festivals and local events. Cooperation with partner towns, such as Saint-Genest-d’Ambière and Wietzendorf, fosters cultural exchange and strengthens ties.
With its fascinating history, beautiful nature, and rich architectural heritage, the Lipiany Commune is an intriguing point on the tourist map of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship.
