Pyrzyce County, located in northwestern Poland on Lake Miedwie and near the Płonia River, has an agricultural character, with a population of 39.3 thousand as of the end of 2019. The county seat is Pyrzyce, known for its rich history and numerous architectural monuments, including medieval defensive walls that have largely survived to this day. Pyrzyce is home to the Cathedral of St. Maurice, one of the most valuable religious buildings, and the well-preserved Brama Bańska (Ban Gate). Lipiany, the county's second town, also has an interesting history with its distinctive 18th-century town hall and a street layout dating back to the Middle Ages. The county is distinguished by its diverse terrain, the presence of numerous post-glacial lakes, and rich flora and fauna. An interesting feature is the geothermal heating plant in Pyrzyce, used for district heating. Folk culture is actively nurtured, including through artistic groups, and the Pyrzyce Folkloric Gatherings attract participants from around the world. The region also has a well-developed educational infrastructure, serving everyone from kindergarten to high school. The administrative seat of the county is the town of Pyrzyce, and power is exercised by the County Council. The county borders the Gryfino, Stargard, and Myślibórz counties.
