wikipedia
Małomice, located in the Lubusz Voivodeship, is a town with a rich history dating back to prehistoric times. Archaeological findings indicate settlement as early as the 6th century BCE, with the most fundamental development occurring during the Piast dynasty. Małomice received town rights around 1280, and its name appeared in documents in 1329. In the 16th century, under the rule of Fabian von Schoenaick, the town gained the status of a market settlement, which contributed to the development of crafts, particularly blacksmithing and pottery. In the 18th century, after being taken over by the von Dohn family, the era of the iron and steel industry began, and the "Marienhütte" steelworks became a significant plant. In the 19th century, the town's development was driven by the railway, and during the interwar period, Małomice gained new facilities, such as a Catholic church and a cinema. After World War II, as a result of military actions, Małomice came under Polish administration. On February 14, 1945, they were occupied by the Red Army, and their former German inhabitants were displaced. The town gained the status of a settlement in 1959 and town rights in 1969. Modern-day Małomice, with a population of 3,458, is the administrative center of the municipality and is developing economically, particularly in the metal industry. Among the town's monuments are an 18th-century Baroque church, a landscape park, and the remains of the former von Dohn palace. Małomice is also home to the football club "Iskra," which is part of the local sports culture. Valuable historical and architectural testimonies, along with industrial traditions, make Małomice an interesting place for both residents and visitors.
