Maleniec is a village in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, in Końskie County, known for its rich history and tourist attractions. The Czarna Konecka River flows through the area, making it a popular spot for walking, hiking, and fishing. Historically, Maleniec stood out for its industrial significance, particularly in the 18th and 19th centuries, when it was a metallurgical center. In 1782, Castellan Jacek Jezierski purchased the village and established a mill, a sawmill, and other workshops; in 1794, he built a reservoir to power water wheels. New technologies and industrial development made Maleniec an important site for metal production. The industrial plant underwent numerous modernizations, including under the management of Tadeusz Bocheński, who expanded the infrastructure and improved working conditions for laborers. A key moment in the village's history was its role during World War II, when the plant was used by the occupying forces, and after the war, it was nationalized. Over the years, the plant ceased operations, and its buildings fell into disrepair. However, in the 1970s, students from the Silesian University of Technology took action to restore them. Today, Maleniec attracts tourists with its festivals and the opportunity to explore historic metallurgical facilities. Despite its tourist appeal, the region faces environmental degradation issues that affect the local landscape. Nevertheless, the Maleniec pond and its surroundings hold potential for further development of hiking and cycling tourism. Although less known, Maleniec is full of unique stories and traditions that invite exploration of its past and rich cultural heritage.
