Międzychód County, located in western Poland in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, is the smallest county in the region by population, with 36,751 residents. Its capital is the town of Międzychód, which is also the smallest town serving as a county seat in Greater Poland. The county was established in 1999 as a result of administrative reform. It covers an area of 736.44 km². Administratively, the county is divided into two urban-rural municipalities (Międzychód and Sieraków) and two rural municipalities (Chrzypsko Wielkie and Kwilcz). Demographically, in 2010 the county had a population of 36,704, which by mid-2020 had slightly decreased to 36,686. Economically, the county experiences relatively low unemployment, which stood at about 4.2% in 2019. It also boasts charming inns and local restaurants serving traditional dishes, attracting tourists. Culturally, the region is known for organizing various local events that promote traditions and folklore. Międzychód County is surrounded by several other counties, including Czarnków-Trzcianka, Szamotuły, Nowy Tomyśl, as well as two Lubusz Voivodeship counties – Międzyrzecz and Strzelce-Drezdenko. This location fosters both cooperation and cultural exchange between regions.
