Międzylesie

Międzylesie is an urban-rural municipality located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, within Kłodzko County, boasting a rich history and a unique setting in the Sudetes Mountains. Its preserved cultural traditions are reflected in its administrative structure—residents elect councilors to the city and municipal council, as well as village administrators (sołtys) in the local settlements. The municipality holds the status of an urban-rural commune, with a mayor serving as the executive authority, and the seat of local government is the town hall in Międzylesie. The area of the municipality includes numerous village districts, some of which are historic settlements, though a few, such as Czerwony Strumień, no longer exist. From a natural perspective, part of the commune is covered by the Śnieżnik Kłodzki Nature Reserve, which protects unique Carpathian vegetation. Międzylesie enjoys a strategic location near the border with the Czech Republic and is crossed by important transport routes, including National Road 33 and the international railway line connecting Wrocław and Prague. An interesting feature is Trójmorski Wierch (Three Seas Ridge), the only point in Central Europe where the watersheds of three seas meet: the Baltic, Black, and North Seas. The municipality has a diverse land structure, dominated by agricultural land and forests. Demographic data show that in 2004, the population was 7,643, which decreased to 7,155 by 2020. With an area of 189.03 km², Międzylesie is a region of significant cultural and natural value, making it an interesting destination both for tourism and historical exploration.
