The municipality of Bystrzyca Kłodzka, located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in the Kłodzko County, covers an area of 337.82 km², of which 48% is agricultural land and 45% is forested land. The municipality has urban-rural status, and its seat is the town of Bystrzyca Kłodzka. The local authorities operate from the town hall on Wolności Square, and residents elect 15 councilors from six electoral districts. The mayor of the municipality is Renata Surma, who has held this position since 2006. The municipality also operates its own bus transport network, launched in January 2024. In 2017, the municipality had a population of 19,077, which decreased to 18,729 by 2020.
