Międzyodrze-Pucka Island

Międzyodrze-Wyspa Pucka is an administrative housing estate in Szczecin, located in the Śródmieście district, with a population of 779 residents according to 2022 data. The estate is situated between the Odra River, the Regalica River, and Lake Dąbie, with its northern part dominated by built-up areas. Major roads run through the estate, including Gdańska Street and the Castle Route, which connect the left-bank and right-bank parts of the city. The area features numerous infrastructure elements, such as the Szczecin Power Plant, a customs office, the Consulate of Mexico, and the municipal beach "Dziewoklicz." An interesting fact is the existence of a tram service line on Łasztownia Island between 1955 and 1964, used to transport port workers to the Ewa Grain Elevator. Historically, the area of the Port of Szczecin was handed over to Polish authorities by the Red Army only on September 17, 1947. Międzyodrze-Wyspa Pucka also includes port areas, family allotment gardens, meadows, and forests of the Gryfino Forest District. The estate's local government, established in 1990, consists of 15 members, and voter turnout in elections, such as the 2003 vote, was very low at just 6.69%. It is also worth noting that the estate's name was changed from Wyspa Pucka to Międzyodrze-Wyspa Pucka in 1998. Międzyodrze-Wyspa Pucka is a place with a rich history, interesting infrastructure, and a niche character, contributing to the uniqueness of this part of Szczecin.
