wikipedia
The Mineralogical Museum in Szklarska Poręba is a private institution founded in 1993 by the Sokołowski family, who also run the Museum of Stones in Kamień Pomorski. It is one of two mineralogical museums in Szklarska Poręba, alongside the "Juna" Earth Museum. The museum stands out for its unique architecture, which harmoniously blends into the surrounding landscape of the Karkonosze and Izera Mountains. The exhibition features a variety of fossils, including dinosaurs and trilobites, as well as remarkable finds such as fossilized Dadoxylon tree trunks and stromatolites, creating a fascinating "Carboniferous Forest." The collection also includes an extensive array of minerals and rocks, such as calcites and stalactites from Wojcieszów, metal ores from Trepcza and Cavnic, and the Gibeon meteorite. The museum is open year-round, daily, and admission is charged. It is an intriguing destination not only for mineralogy enthusiasts but also for those seeking unique treasures of the Earth and the history of our planet.
